Officer Geoff Albert and K-9 Taz

On July 10, 2010, due to budget cuts, the West Sacramento Police Department lost the K-9 unit of Geoff Albert and K-9 Taz. Geoff and Taz were in the unit from July 2003 to July 2010. They attended over 2500 hours of training and won numerous trophies in competition. Geoff and Taz saw approximately 400 suspects surrender in their presence and if course over 30 suspects chose not to surrender. Geoff and Taz were a solid, productive and knowledgeable K-9 team. The K-9 Association presented Geoff with a beautiful "THANK YOU" plaque from the unit. Geoff will be sorely missed as an excellent K-9 handler, we hope Taz enjoys his retirement.

CHP Pursuit

CHP Pursuit Spans Three Counties & Officer Dave Stallions and K-9 Chance are called to help !!!!
July 26, 2010

SACRAMENTO - A woman who the CHP says has a history of DUI arrests and who was wanted on several no-bail warrants, led the California Highway Patrol through three counties before finally being run off the road in Sacramento.

She reached speeds of 100 miles an hour, roared over the Tower Bridge into Sacramento, and rammed a CHP cruiser before they pinned her with two cruisers on 4th Street between Capitol Mall and L Streets.

The woman refused orders to get out of the car.

A bean bag shotgun shell was deployed at least twice, which shattered the window. A K-9 officer from the West Sacramento Police Department then drug her out of the car. She was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening wounds.

No officers were hurt. An officer originally tried to pull her over in Vacaville when he noticed her Oregon plates matched those of a car stolen out of Carmichael.
